Pass It On: A Proverbs Journal for the Next Generation By Champ Thornton is an excellent gift idea for the upcoming holiday season. This book has a great looking cover, and it’s also filled with a tremendous amount of wisdom. Pass It On is a book and a journal that is sure to be a wonderful keepsake for decades and centuries to come. This book brings the diligence of bible study and the discipline of journaling together as a powerful discipleship tool! Based on the book of Proverbs,  Thornton’s journal will be the perfect resource for parents, children, and disciple-makers who want to let the word overflow in their hearts and spread to others!

Pass It On has numerous features which make this book well worth the money, time, and effort to buy and complete it:

A new translation based on the Greek New Testament. This Proverbs journal primarily uses Bruce Waltke’s translation of the book of Proverbs, taken from his work in the New International Commentary on the Old Testament series.

Excellent commentary from sound resources. The first two pages of the endnotes include the following authors in it: Thomas Cranmer, Tom Schreiner, Timothy Keller, James Hamilton, and Graeme Goldsworthy. These references show a commitment to sound teaching as well as a commitment to a Christ-centered, biblical theological focus in the commentary.

A reflection section for personal application.  The richest aspects of this book and journal are the “identifying a verse”, “going deeper”, “connecting the gospel”, and “personalizing a prayer” sections. These sections allow the words of Proverbs to sink deeply by the first person who works through the book. These sections are the “pass it on” portions that will prove beneficial for years to come. It will allow friends, children, or disciples to see how God’s word can impact their lives with wisdom and power.

Pass It On is an excellent discipleship tool, and I recommend it to anyone who is making disciples or raising children.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
